Ever since Weasel Fest I been looking for a nice slope wing under 24 inches. I found through RC Groups SylvanAircraft (website). They have many powered wings including the Scram-Blur, pictured below. My Zagi did so well on the slope as an unpowered glider, I look forward to trying this one. I plan to build it as light as I can we’ll see how it all works out!
The Scram-Blur runs $27 unpowered.

I went out this morning and threw up the ol tomhe Mig-29 for a flight. Despite soccer players around I managed not to crash on anyone. It was light wents and got in two good flights on it.
It has been a while since I flew anything and so I was a bit nervous but a few moments into it everything came back to me and I had alot of fun.

I am starting to sort out all the video from the WeaselFest09 as well as some other footage taken while flying with Cliff and Fred. I will be adding a few new videos starting next week.
I have been working and playing wow a bit much lately but thankfully am burnt out on both so back to flying.
I start school in august and I got the next 3 years at least planned out pretty concrete. After that we’ll see. At the moment the plan is to work towards an Aerospace Engineering degree. Which fits. Once I get reliable transpertation I hope yo make trips out to Santa Maria to get some flying in.
Stay tuned.

Well I have not gotten much chance to do much flying but I am more or less all moved. I still need a place to work and build and the DIU is just sitting there.
Here are some nice pictures of Montana De Oro, I actually got some flying in today and it was pretty fun, but then the wind went away and I got to take a nice nature hike to go get it. You can see the it down there on the beach, nice lil white speck.

Went out to get some gliding in today, the wind was nice and strong. Cliff, Jan and I all got to maiden flight some of our planes.
Cliff’s Ridge Runner flew great, as did my Razor, once I finally got it in the air. Jan brought out his new Talon with conventional tail and it flew great as well.
Cliff and I tried to hit each other all day but never managed to. However Jan and I managed to touch wings and that was the only “combat” today.
The Stryker never managed to make it out into the clean air. Maybe next time.

Well I get the tooth pulled monday, and for the price I think they are cutting of my arm too! But at least the pain will be gone. Just 2 more days of waking up in throbbing pain and its all over, wait, 3 more days…
On a brighter note I got my DIU kits in the mail yesterday and have begun work on the powered one. not sure how it will all go since the weight up front is so much that i will have to compensate alot in the back. not so sure how that is going to work out, I may just sand down the other body and make the unpowered one first while i work out a solution for the powered one. Not sure yet, would like to fly something this week end though.
The winds look like they are going to be great for sloping, a little heavy saturday but calmer sunday.

Well I have been looking around for a good place to check wind and weather forcasts and came accross this website today. I placed a link on the left side below the YouTube link to view the weather. This is especially nice for tracking wind speed and direction. The two things that determine my ability to fly.
Here is a preview of what a report looks like. You can click on the units of the left MPH/°F to change unit displayed, The website default is metric not standard so unless you have a mental calculator like I don’t click the buttons to change to a more US friendly measurement.

The Mini Morback (hanger) is ready to fly and will be taking it out for its maiden flight in about 30 minutes. The rain storm of today is hiding behind crystal blue skies. Sneaky bastard.
I got my power setup for my Alula clone DIU DLG from www.eFlyPower.com. It looks really good and look forward to trying it out. If I ever get the plane! Actually I received a shipping number today and it should be here by Thursday or Friday, most likely Monday, but whatever.
On the subject of power setups. I was led to a page that gave a lot of great info for anyone interested in folding props. I mirrored the page (here) under the Gound School page. It gives you a lot of great info diagrams and such for buying folding props and folding prop spinners. I on my own and from what others say recommend metal spinners over anything else. Just a lot stronger. You can read the source page (here).
And finally after a long day of fighting winds a bit to strong for it, here is my warn out Alula, resting in the grass.

Here are some pictures of some test glides of the scratch build Alula taken by my dad. Since these pictures the plane had one crash and after some fixes the proper dihedral is now in the wings.
On the slope today I flew it for real, for the first time. It was a bit windy but the plane flew pretty good. It just looks so great I had one mishap on a landing and when fixing it (the nose broke to one side) I added some green tape under the wings to help me identify top and bottom.
Cliff let me fly some of his planes on there and they where heavy enough to handel the high wind much better then my little plane. Still though, I dont know if it’s that I built it, but I just could not get enough of flying it.

Well it crashed, and the bad news is that it is ready to fly again. As it turned out the impact that broke the servo arm free also stripped the servo. So I replaced it with another servo and the plane is about ready to fly again. However if common sense gets the best of me I will strip it all down and rebuild it from the beginning. To bad its painted, may have to sand that off. Who knows. Anyway the winds where to high for a maiden flight and it split in half.
The battery seemed to have survived the crash, as well as all the other electronics, except that HXT500 servo.
I was however able to take out the bad flight with the rental car spinning it around in the mud before i returned it. You should a seen the picture perfect over made up girl not wanting to give me a ride home in it because it was so dirty. I hosed most the heavy mud off it and exclaimed that it was much cleaner now then half an hour ago. She did not believe me lol, some girls are just no fun.
